What's Inside ControlBase: Materials and Fixing Philosophy

A desktop mount only works if it holds up to daily use - repeated handling, cable changes, and years in a commercial environment. Every material and fixing decision in ControlBase was made with that in mind.
Two material systems, two different jobs
ControlBase brackets are manufactured from fibre reinforced engineering composites - materials selected for dimensional stability, surface hardness, and long-term performance in permanent installation environments, not general-purpose plastics. The range is built on two distinct material systems, each suited to a different environment.
Gallery finish is a glass fibre reinforced composite, finished with a satin clearcoat for a consistent, architectural-grade surface. It's RF transparent throughout, dimensionally stable, and doesn't flex under interaction - suited to permanent installations in boardrooms, reception areas, and client-facing spaces. Gallery comes in three finishes: Arctic White, a neutral white for contemporary interiors; Luna Grey, a considered mid-grey that sits alongside natural materials without competing; and Obsidian Black, a deep, low-reflection black that anchors the panel on any surface.
Core finish is a carbon fibre reinforced composite, left unclearcoated - the material texture is the finish. It's denser than Gallery, with greater hardness, abrasion resistance, and resistance to chemical exposure, making it the better choice for high-wear environments, technical installations, and anything handled frequently or moved between locations. Core is available in Anthracite Black, a dark, matte surface.
Fixing philosophy: metal on metal throughout
Every fixing point on ControlBase uses embedded brass threads. This is a metal-to-metal fixing, rated for repeat removal and reinstallation across the full product lifecycle - the bracket can be taken apart and put back together without the thread wearing out or the material stripping.
Fixing screws are supplied with every bracket, matched to the panel's thread specification, standard M3.5. Sourcing the right hardware on site isn't something the installer needs to think about.
Weighted for stability
Each ControlBase includes a permanently bonded internal steel ballast plate. Concentrating weight low and central keeps the centre of gravity where it needs to be for stable single-handed panel interaction, rather than adding bulk to the composite body or the bracket's footprint. Replaceable isolation feet, in rubber or TPU, protect the worktop surface and absorb vibration - the parts that wear get replaced, not the bracket itself.
Connectivity built in
Every ControlBase bracket includes a keystone backplane, or on select ecosystems, a Neutrik D-type option. Keystone positions accept RJ45, RJ11, DC socket inserts, and cable grommets, with a material-matched blank and one grommet included as standard. Integrated cable tie points handle strain relief internally, so cable management doesn't rely on an external clip or tie wrap.
For PoE-based panels, the D-type backplane brings EtherCon connectivity to the desktop position - the panel can be disconnected and relocated without cutting cables.

Every bracket is hand assembled and individually finished. Gallery finish variants undergo a 48-hour clearcoat curing window before dispatch, ensuring the surface has fully cured before it reaches an installation.
