Every Australian electrician knows the plasterboard clip bracket - the standard solution for mounting switches and power points into a round cutout without cavity access. It's in every van and every packout, and it works perfectly for AU format hardware.
For EU square panels, the equivalent didn't exist.
A gap the local market hadn't solved
EU square (Type 86) panels use a 60.3mm screw centre standard that doesn't align with standard Australian mounting accessories. They're increasingly specified across lighting control, building automation, and smart home installations, but the hardware to mount them cleanly into a finished wall has been uncommon and expensive locally. The usual options were a back box requiring cavity access, or a specialist solution that wasn't readily available in the Australian market.
ControlFix closes that gap.
How it works
ControlFix is a C-profile adapter that inserts from the front face into a standard 70mm round cutout. No back box. No cavity access. No second pair of hands.
The rear flange bears against the back of the wall surface, suitable for any wall thickness of 10mm or greater. The interference fit holds the adapter in position once inserted, and it rotates freely while you offer up the panel - so the panel finds its own level as the screws tighten. A slightly off-round hole doesn't matter. The adapter conforms and locks in place.
Fixing uses Fin-Lok press-fit M3.5 brass inserts, installed from the rear of the adapter. The hole geometry forward of the thread prevents pull-through from the front face regardless of panel screw torque, giving a clean, durable fixing point rated for repeat removal and reinstallation.
Simple on site
Mark and cut a 68-70mm opening - a standard 70mm downlight hole saw does the job, a tool every electrician already has. Insert ControlFix from the front. Offer up the panel. Tighten the screws until level, then final tighten to lock the adapter in position.
Works in plasterboard, plywood, MDF, and most standard wall constructions.
Verified compatibility
ControlFix fits EU square panels from 80-90mm, verified with Dynalite Antumbra EU, Revolution EU, KNX keypads, Shelly wall controls, Rithum switches, and other EU-format panels using the 60.3mm fixing centre standard.
